Your adventures begin with Explorer

Buying a motorhome is a big deal. We think it's important to focus on what will make life away from home as pleasurable and stress-free as possible. Being biggest isn't always best. Less can definitely be  way more.

Manufacture

Expertly designed and built here in New Zealand

We’ve been designing and manufacturing Explorers right here in Auckland since 2007.

ONE-PIECE COMPOSITE BODY

Explorer Navigator has a one-piece composite body using a vacuumed urethane core sandwiched between layers of fibreglass and an outer layer of gelcoat. This produces a durable finish which is easy to maintain and much more resistant to scratches than painted finishes.

LIGHTWEIGHT, STRONG, SEAMLESS & WATERTIGHT

Explorer’s body is seamless, lightweight and strong with the added benefit of excellent insulation and you know you’ll be leak-free.

Using a moulded body is not common in the motorhome industry because producing these moulds isn't easy, but it is the tried and trusted technique in the boating and trucking industries that we know really performs.

Quality is everything to us. We only use industry-leading components that we know will last the distance. We know that your motorhome is going to take you to some pretty exciting places, so everything needs to work and last. For example, we only use high-pressure laminate on plywood for Explorer's joinery - not MDF-based materials that swell if they are exposed to moisture.

If you're buying a new motorhome, we encourage you to look deeper than the surface.

Explorer Owners Talk

Is there any other kind of motorhome?

We owned other campers before the Explorer, but were constantly looking around to find the holy grail of 4x4 campers.

After one particularly rough road on our way to the Routeburn Track, with everything coming loose and crashing down, we noticed an Explorer in the Routeburn Track carpark. It was like a lightbulb moment: this was the closest we had ever come to finding our forever camper. The owner was probably on the track, so we couldn’t tour the Explorer, and reluctantly drove to Glenorchy, where we happened to notice another Explorer parked in a driveway. The owners had just returned from a trip and were unloading the camper, so we asked for a tour. They very happily showed us around and absolutely raved about the camper. We were decided, it had to be an Explorer, nothing else would do!

There was just one small issue, the Explorer is so popular. There was a two-year waiting list! We immediately started the process. Dealing with Mike and Kathy was so easy, they kept us well informed the whole time and guided us through the choices we had to make. We were extremely excited the day we collected our own Explorer, and Mike and Kathy carefully demonstrated all the amazing features.

We absolutely LOVE our Explorer, we go everywhere in it as even the cabinetry is built for offroad, up steep ski field roads covered in snow and ice, and we have done the Routeburn Track again, this time with no stress. Everywhere we go, people want to look inside the Explorer and no one can believe that a camper which looks so compact from the outside, and can fit in a supermarket parking bay, is so spacious inside and is fully self-contained. The bed is easy to access and very comfortable, and the lounge area with the big windows letting in the view, is the best we have ever seen in any camper in this size range. It is very easy to drive and does not feel like it is “leaning” around corners, like our last camper did. The kitchen is very well designed and we cook full meals easily, with the excellent extract fan removing the cooking odours efficiently. The bathroom has everything you need, love the mirror cabinets and the pull-out drying rack.

We have been right up to Cape Reinga in our Explorer and down to Invercargill, and just about everything in between. During the days we are touring or hiking or cycling, and in the evenings, we relax in the lounge area and play board games, read or watch movies on the great TV. We even use our Explorer for out-of-town work, cheap accommodation and you can take everything you need with you, park on site and make meals or hot drinks as you need.

This is not a cheap camper, but remember, it holds its value and any Explorers which come on the market are snapped up immediately, it is actually an investment. This camper is built in Auckland by a family-owned business who are fantastic to deal with and their after-sales service is the best we have ever come across.

Battery System Upgrade

Redarc RedVision & Lithium Battery System Standard

Explorer’s electrical system delivers better performance and therefore much greater opportunity and off-the-grid peace-of-mind.

Lithium batteries can endure up to ten times more charge cycles than the equivalent-sized lead acid battery; can be fully discharged and recharged in 4 - 5 hours.

The heart of the Redarc RedVision system is a battery management unit that operates like six separate products; a DC-to-DC battery charger when the vehicle is on the move, a 240-volt 30-amp mains charger, a 30-amp MPPT solar regulator, a starting battery isolator, a load disconnect controller and a battery monitor.
